October 19, 7pm Eastern: Peace & Justice Conversation: NH Resists Arms to Israel
A New Hampshire company is connected to the machinery of war in Gaza. We examine SIG Sauer’s military partnerships and weapons sales,
including its reported collaboration with Israel Aerospace Industries on an armed drone system. Learn how local industry, public accountability, human rights, environmental harm, and the call for action come together—and what New Hampshire residents can do. David DeTour and others from the RAIN working group of the NH Coalition for a Just Peace in the Middle East will share and discuss the facts and the campaign.
David DeTour grew up in Rowley, Massachusetts, and served in the U.S. Navy Seabees—the Navy’s construction force—from 1974 to 1978. After his discharge, he studied civil engineering then worked as a civil design draftsman with engineering firms before establishing his own business. Since retiring, Dave has become increasingly active in local grassroots organizing. Concerned by the political climate following Donald Trump’s second inauguration, he joined with like-minded neighbors to help launch Southern NH Indivisible, a local chapter of the national Indivisible movement. About a year ago, Dave also joined the New Hampshire Coalition for a Just Peace in the Middle East steering committee to represent SNHI. He has served as a Peacekeeper since No Kings II and is co-captain of a Bridge Brigade team in Manchester.
November 2, 7pm EASTERN: Peace & Justice Conversations: 77 Years of Demilitarization in Costa Rica
For 77 years, Costa Rica has proven that a nation can flourish without an army by choosing to ground its defense in
public trust, education, and social care. This Zoom conversation explores what it actually feels like to live in a culture where national security is a philosophical choice rather than a display of force. Drawing on pivotal moments from Costa Rica’s history, we will look beyond abstract theory to share actionable insights for Americans striving to cultivate peace within their own communities. Join us to discover how a simple commitment to human well-being can reshape how we imagine safety and connection.
Ignacio Oreamuno is the founder of The Dreamcatchers, an adventure travel company based in NH and has been taking people on nature and spiritual journeys in Costa Rica and New Hampshire for many years. His contagious passion for life and nature is something he loves to share in his trips. He is a long-time Monadnock resident, artist, mixologist, and coffee empresario.
Please join Not in My Name NH on Sunday, November 8th at the Community Church of Durham to screen the film and have a conversation. The event is free (donations welcome!), no registration necessary, just come and bring others! Palestinian Olive Oil, Art and Crafts will be for sale. Event starts at 3:00pm, the film starts at 3:30.
