Supporting Non Violent Action During Election Season
October 19 @ 9:30 am - 3:00 pm
For most of the past decade, political violence has been on the increase in the U.S. While high profile events like the Charlottesville Unite the Right rally in 2017, and the January 6, 2021 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol were well publicized, thousands of lesser known but just as harmful attacks have been occurring across our nation, including the defacing of churches, synagogues and mosques; attacks on the LGBTQ community; threats against immigrant families; and vandalism at reproductive health clinics. We have seen many examples of this kind of political violence here in New Hampshire.
But we need not live with political violence. This is not the new normal. Across the country dynamic, forceful and oftentimes joyful “backfire tactics” have been used to reverse the effects of political violence. Come learn more about Harnessing Our Power to End (HOPE) Political Violence a powerful methodology to counter political violence based on five backfire principles. This will be a highly participatory training designed for organizers and activists working on the front lines of social justice and peaceful civic engagement in New Hampshire.
The HOPE-PV workshop will be followed by lunch (provided) and a Peacekeeper 101 training. This two hour training will include role plays and is good for those new to peacekeeping or experienced peacekeepers who want a refresher.
This event is co-sponsored by New Hampshire Peace Action and Granite State Progress
