Peace & Justice Conversations: Lessons from the Nobel Peace Prize Delegation

January 13 @ 7:00 am - 8:00 pm

Free

This year’s Nobel Peace Prize wisely refocused world attention on the urgency of renewing nuclear disarmament diplomacy. The Hibakusha (A-bomb witness/survivors) of Nihon Hidankyo have been among the world’s most courageous and steadfast advocates of nuclear disarmament. Joseph Gerson joined Nihon Hidankyo’s Nobel Peace Prize delegation in Oslo, Norway in December. He will talk with us about lessons he’s taken away from the experience at a time when humanity facing the greatest danger of nuclear war since the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis.

Joseph Gerson is the president of the Campaign for Peace, Disarmament, and Common security (https://cpdcs.org/), the co-chair of an Indo-Pacific working group preparing a Common Security Report, and author of Empire and the Bomb and With Hiroshima Eyes. We have been privileged at New Hampshire Peace Action to work with and learn from Joseph over the past few decades.

About NHPA’s bi-weekly Zoom Peace & Justice Conversation Series: 2020’s upheavals brought us to a new moment of reckoning and possibility. How do we want to live in the world? What do we value? How can we make the changes we’ve been yearning for? NH Peace Action has been engaged in working for change for decades. We’d like to bring you into these conversations about issues and options for the future.  There is no charge to attend, but your contributions in any amount are greatly appreciated.
