NH Peace Action 2022 Annual Meeting

June 5, 2022 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

$22.00

Join NH Peace Action’s first in-person event since the start of the pandemic! Come to our 2022 Annual Meeting at the Bathhouse Pavilion at Bear Brook State Park. (Note, you do not have to pay park entrance fee).

We will have a potluck luncheon, Will is planning on cooking ribs and stuffed mushrooms and we will have a special program with Dr. Sandra Yarne: Saving Ourselves While Saving the World.

As a person interested in peace and justice you are probably experiencing increased feelings of frustration, indignation, anger, anxiety or helplessness when you think about the news. Even within the peace movement itself there is new and unusual tension over the differing ways to respond to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

This workshop on “Saving Ourselves While Saving the World” will help you with strategies to care for yourself and others. Each person will be assisted in developing a plan for compassionate self care. The workshop is participatory, composed of brainstorming, dialogue, and meditating. The goal is to enhance everyone’s ability to work for peace and justice while maintaining personal wellbeing.

Sandra Yarne is a licensed clinical psychologist in New Hampshire and Massachusetts. She has participated in the members’ group of the Jean Baker Miller Institute of the Stone Center at Wellesley College and served as a clinical consultant to the Institute’s Women in Prison study. Sandra has taught psychology courses as adjunct faculty at Austin Community College, Austin, Texas, Granite State College, and the University of New Hampshire.

For the last 30 years she has addressed the psychological needs of children, adolescents, and adults. She uses mindfulness, relational, and cognitive behavioral therapies to assist her clients. Her treatment focuses on changing strategies of disconnection to those of healthy connection to self and others.

As a peace activist Sandra served as an organizer for Beyond War and Move On. She is a cofounder of the Palestine Education Network and currently serves on New Hampshire Peace Action Education Fund’s Board of Directors.  She works with Back from the Brink, a national coalition to abolish nuclear weapons, contributing to their monthly strategy calls.  She has helped six New Hampshire communities to pass Back from the Brink resolutions.

Tickets are just $20 to help cover the cost of park rental and food. There is an option for Students/Fixed income as well.

This Annual Meeting is required by law to make any changes to the bylaws, elect the Board of Directors for the coming year and conduct any other business as needed.

We will make every effort to gather safely.  If you would like to bring a dish to share, please email Doreen to let her know what you will be bringing. If you are uncomfortable with sharing group food and would like to bring your own lunch, you are welcome to do so.
