Israel, Palestine and the Basics of International Law

February 21 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Free

In the current crisis in Israel and Palestine many terms and processes regarding International Law are regularly raised but not always well defined. In this talk you will get some basic definitions, concepts and procedures explained so that you can understand and speak more confidently with legislators, friends and media.

Mike Merryman-Lotze serves as AFSC’s Just Peace Global Policy Director. As a member of the Global Policy, Strategy, and Advocacy Department, Mike leads AFSC’s global peace building policy work, supporting both US and International staff and programs.

Prior to taking up this position, Mike worked with AFSC for 13 years coordinating the organization’s Israel-Palestine and Middle East policy and advocacy work. Before joining AFSC, Mike worked as a researcher with the Palestinian human rights organization Al-Haq in the West Bank, worked in Save the Children UK’s Jerusalem office managing child rights and child protection programming, and managed programs for Partners Global in Lebanon, Jordan, Yemen, and throughout the Middle East and North Africa.
