NH Peace Action condemns the violence against protestors, but urges caution in encouraging the U.S. to meddle in Iran's affairs. We call on the government of Iran to let political prisoners go, to allow another election with international monitors, and to immediately stop violence against the voters of Iran who deserve to have their votes counted in a free and fair election.New! Pastors for Peace Caravan to Cuba will visit Concord on Monday, July 6, 2009Concord Unitarian Universalist Church 274 Pleasant St. at 7:00 pm Members of the Caravan will deliver tons of supplies to help Cubans rebuild from last year’s devastating hurricanes. Caravan participants will discuss the harsh consequences for Cubans of the U.S. blockade and travel restrictions. Pastors for Peace is a 20-year old project of the New York-based Interreligious Foundation for Community Organizing. The project offers U.S. citizens opportunities to demonstrate and enact an alternative foreign policy based on justice and mutual respect. More than 50 Pastors for Peace Caravans have traveled to Mexico, Central America, and Cuba to deliver life-giving aid and to support a more just relationship between the United States and neighboring countries. Claudia De la Cruz, a community organizer and United Church of Christ pastor from New York City, will be among the caravan participants at the Concord event. This event is sponsored by the Concord Unitarian Universalist Church Social Justice Committee, NH Peace Action, and the New Hampshire Program of the American Friends Service Committee. |
